HUNTINGTON -- Out-of-state students starting school for the first time on Tuesday, Aug. 26, must have a tuberculosis skin test, according to the Cabell-Huntington Health Department.

Students must have a tuberculosis skin test if transferring from a school outside West Virginia, unless they have proof of a test done, read and evaluated within four months prior to the beginning of the school year.

Students can get tuberculosis skin tests at the Cabell-Huntington Health Department or at their private physician office.

The health department will offer free tests from 8 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, and Monday, Aug. 25.

Once the test is applied, the student must return after 72 hours for the test to be read and recorded.

This record is required by the schools for entry.

More information is available by calling the health department at 304-523-6483, Ext. 221.
