State Police arrested Monica Boggs of Hedgesville on Wednesday. She is charged with murder of a child by a parent and child abuse with the risk of serious injury.

Boggs' infant son, Skylar, was pronounced dead Tuesday night at a Martinsburg hospital. Boggs allegedly told troopers that the infant was placed in a crib at 6 p.m. Tuesday and appeared to be normal. She said when she checked on the baby about three hours later, he wasn't breathing.

State Police said an autopsy showed that the baby didn't die from natural causes.

Boggs was being held Thursday at the Eastern Regional Jail. A jail officer said it was not known if Boggs has a lawyer.
